Dr Andrew Apel

Dr Andrew Apel is the founding owner of The Eye Health Centre Brisbane with practices in Brisbane City, Aspley, Wynnum and Booval.

Dr John Hogden

Dr John Hogden is an Ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in corneal, external eye disease, cataract, anterior segment, and
refractive surgery. Few things are as precious as your vision. If a refractive error, cataracts, corneal disease or another eye problem compromises your ocular health or your ability to see clearly, you deserve the finest medical or surgical care available. Dr Michael Hogden
BSc MBBS (Hons) FRANZCO DAO Retinal Specialist
Michael Hogden is a retinal specialist with subspecialty training in the medical and surgical management of disorders of the vitreous,
retina and macula. He completed specialist ophthalmic surgical training in Queensland, including a year as senior registrar at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, before undertaking further subspecialty Fellowship training in medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery at the Oxford Eye Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital, respectively. Michael has also pursued additional international retinal training at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York, and the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University in New York. He was awarded a RANZCO Overseas Scholarship to support his subspecialty Fellowship training in the United Kingdom and North America.
Dr Hogden holds a public appointment as a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. In these academic posts he is involved in training Ophthalmology registrars and medical students and is involved in clinical research.

Dr Gurmit Uppal

Dr Uppal is an ophthalmic cataract surgeon and vitreo-retinal specialist with a research background in macular surgery.
He undertook his training in London at leading
teaching hospitals and his ophthalmic training at the
the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, the
largest eye centre in Europe.
Thereafter he completed a retinal fellowship in
vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina at Sydney
Eye Hospital. Dr Uppal followed this up with a
second vitreo-retinal fellowship at Moorfields Eye
Hospital, London further enhancing his experience in
retinal disorders, trauma as well as high volume
refractive and complex cataract surgery.
Dr Uppal moved in 2014 to Brisbane with his wife
and two daughters.
